Introduction to Aquatic Data Sciences - Info Session March 11, 2025 at 12:00 pm

To fulfil its mission of promoting healthy and sustainable marine and freshwater systems through research, education, and societal engagement, the UBC Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries offers an upcoming micro-credential program that will significantly benefit professionals in our field. The Micro-certificate in Analytics for Leaders in Ocean Management is a specialized program that equips ocean professionals with introductory and advanced analytical skills to drive data-informed decision-making and effective management practices in marine and coastal environments. This educational opportunity that may be of particular interest to those engaged in ocean research, conservation, and other areas within the ocean sciences.

Program Overview:
The Micro-certificate in Analytics for Leaders in Ocean Management is designed to build your capacity to utilize aquatic databases. This program emphasizes applied skills in data analysis tailored to the ocean management context in a part-time online program. It enables students to build their analytics knowledge and create solutions for sustainable and equitable development of the blue economy. By the end of the program, participants will have developed skills that are vital for addressing today’s pressing challenges marine biodiversity and natural resources.

  • Ocean science and management professionals seeking to expand their analytical skills,
  • Faculty and graduate students involved in research-intensive projects that leverage data for ecosystem and resource management, and
