Tuition & Fees

Find detailed information about tuition fees, payment schedules, and available tuition awards for graduate students.

  • Current tuition fees for all graduate programs can be found in your Graduate Degree Program listing. You can also visit the UBC Calendar to view Master’s Tuition Fees and PhD Tuition Fees. For graduate students in EOAS, tuition will normally be assessed based on Schedule A of the Standard Degree Programs, which can be found at the bottom of the respective pages for Masters and PhD programs. For PhD, MSc and MASc graduate students in EOAS, tuition will normally be assessed based on Schedules A of the Standard Master’s Degree Programs and the Standard Doctoral Degree Program.
  • Tuition and fees are billed in three installments per year, corresponding to the start of Winter Term 1, Winter Term 2, and the Summer Term. Tuition is paid online prior to the start of each term at Workday Student. This fee is the same regardless of how many course credits the student is registered in
  • International students are eligible for the International Tuition Award to offset increased tuition costs
  • Domestic and International PhD students' tuition is covered by the university for a duration of 4 years through the Faculty of Science Tuition Award
  • Domestic and International MSc and MASc students’ tuition is offset during the first year of studies through the Faculty of Science Master’s tuition award. In April 2024, the Faculty of Science (FoS) launched the Faculty of Science Master’s Tuition Award, providing a tuition award to every first-year Master’s student entering a thesis-based Master’s degree in the FoS (students starting September 2024 and January 2025) and carrying out research under the supervision of a faculty member in the FoS. The Faculty of Science Master’s Tuition Award has been extended for first-year Master’s students starting in May and September 2025. Each student will receive an award equivalent to the domestic tuition for one year after their starting date.

  • The MEng program in Geological Engineering and the Graduate Certificate in Applied Geological Engineering are not eligible for UBC and Faculty of Science Tuition awards.
