NOTICE OF OPENING AN INTERNATIONAL SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR A DOCTORATE POSITION

Please find bellow an announcement for an international selection procedure for a position of doctoral candidate, on the basis of a public service work contract for a fixed term of three years, automatically renewable for periods of one year, up to a maximum of six years, in the field of natural sciences - marine geology, to perform research activities in the frame of Project EMSO-PT - European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and Water Column Observatory. The researcher to be hired will have the following functions: investigate the impact of climatic variability, particularly during warm periods and extreme climatic events of the past, in the conditions of primary productivity, as well as in the composition and dynamics of the phytoplankton community in coastal upwelling systems using biomarkers already recognized as well as investigating the potential of new biomarkers as key indicators; assure the operational capability of Gas Chromatography with Mass Spectrometry.

HUGH C. MORRIS EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING FELLOWSHIP

It is with great pleasure that I announce the return of the Hugh C. Morris Experiential Learning Fellowship for its third year.  We would be sincerely grateful if you would be willing to share this announcement broadly to interested students and colleagues in the Department of Civil Engineering at The University of British Columbia.

The Hugh C. Morris Experiential Learning Fellowship, valued at $40,000 Cdn, is open to any graduate student studying in Canada who is working in a field related to earth, geosciences, environment, alternative energy, water, climate change, sustainability, or to the social impact, social sciences or design sciences related to these areas, and is designed to provide a unique experiential travel program designed by the student. Learn about the fellowship journeys already supported and currently unfolding for existing fellows Vicky Vanthof (University of Waterloo), Neil Fernandes (Queen’s University), Theron Finley (University of Alberta), and Kaj Sullivan (Queen’s University). WHOI POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Application deadline is OCTOBER 15, 2019. We are currently accepting applications for the 2020-2021 Postdoctoral Scholarships at WHOI.  The deadline for completed applications has changed to October 15, 2019. Those applicants selected for an award will be able to begin their postdoctoral appointment at WHOI any time between January 1 and December 1, 2020. Attached are several flyers for the various awards as well as a general advertisement.  We would appreciate your bringing these opportunities to the attention of interested graduate students and recent postdoctorates who you think would be a good fit for an award. Please keep in mind that these awards are intended to attract new researchers to the Institution.  Therefore, MIT/WHOI Joint Program Students, and those holding any type of WHOI appointment at the post-Ph.D. level during the 12 months prior to December 31st of the Scholar application year are not eligible for the Scholar competition.
