EOSC 333 · Elemental and Isotopic Geochemistry

Instructor:
Dominique Weis (dweis@mail.ubc.ca)
Welcome to Introduction to Geochemistry!
This course uses geochemical analyses and principles to decipher rock- and mineral-forming processes, characterize tectonic environments, and explore the evolution of planet Earth. It explains how radiogenic isotope systematics can be used to fingerprint reservoir compositions and determine the absolute ages of rocks and minerals. And documents how to manage and assess the accuracy and precision of geochemical analyses and datasets.
Lectures are in-person in EOS Main 105 from 9-10 am each Monday and Wednesday in the Winter term, and Labs are in-person in EOS Main 203 (Wed 3-6 pm, Fri 1-4 pm).
