In this talk I will introduce four different disruptive technologies, namely cheap sensing technology (from arduino to your phone), automated in-situ microscopes, autonomous platforms and small footprint satellites, that are revolutionizing oceanography as we know it. These technologies are opening many new frontiers, a few of which I will illustrate using projects I am involved with.
