3D Gravity Inversion at the Voisey's Bay
|
For this inversion, a total of 1,900 Bouguer gravity anomaly data (see pre-processing) were selected from a larger data set, with a dense distribution over the ore body, and a sparser distribution towards the edges of the region of interest. This figure shows these data as a Bouguer anomaly map.
It was known from drill core results that the maximum density of this massive sulphide orebody is 4.5 g/cc, and that the host rock density is 2.8 g/cc. Overburden thickness was also known to vary between 10 and 20 metres.
