3D Gravity Inversion at the Voisey's Bay
Pre - processing

Preliminary processing of gravity data usually involves reduction to the Bouguer anomaly, followed by removal of a regional component. The Bouguer anomaly is generated using standard corrections to account for latitude, elevation and topography at each measurement station. Contributions to gravity data from regional scale features may be accounted for by any of several methods depending on the scale of the survey and complexity of the regional scale geology. In this case, the inversion involved large scale features, so regional behaviour was accounted for implicitly. Data errors must, of course, be assessed, and in this case, 3% plus 0.01 mGal was considered appropriate.
