Senior Coastal Modeler Position - Pacific Northwest National Laboratory
PNNL is a DOE-funded national laboratory with its main campus in Richland, Washington and multiple “satellite” campuses and joint institutes in places like Seattle and College Park, Maryland, among others. It employs over 4,800 scientists, engineers, and professionals and accounted for over $1 billion in R&D expenditures in FY2019.
The SCM will join PNNL’s Atmospheric Sciences and Global Change Division. Leveraging the lab’s world-class capabilities and expert team of scientists, she/he/they will be responsible for guiding the direction of PNNL’s growing coastal modeling and coastal systems science program, identifying ways in which current work can be extended to better understand how climate change is impacting, and will impact, coastal systems. This person will bring deep modeling experience and have, among many other opportunities, the chance to build a modeling framework and set of computational tools that will advance coastal system science.

Programs & EventsEOAS Climate Dialogue
In advance of the EOAS climate dialogue next week, here is a link to a survey covering discussion topics most relevant to EOAS, and laying out key questions for the dialogue. Feedback gathered from this process will be both used internally within EOAS, as well as submitted to the UBC administration to guide their climate response in the future. This survey can be used any of three ways:
1) Advance preparation: We recommend all those planning to attend the dialogue webinar please take a couple of minutes to review the topics and get your initial thoughts. This will streamline discussion on the day of. If you are planning to attend, you don't need to actually submit feedback through the survey for this purpose, though you are welcome to do that as well.
2) Supplemental, post-event: after the dialogue itself, you may decide there is additional important feedback you'd like to add after thinking it over or discussing with peers. The survey will remain open for a few days to allow this.
3) Alternative: If for any reason you aren't able to join in for the webinar, please do use this survey to submit your own feedback separately.

Yuanji is working on the environmental behaviors of persistent organic contaminants (PCBs and PBDEs) in the Strait of Georgia, including their sources, dispersion and fate.

James Scoates’s Laboratory
Talk Topic: Magmatic Ni-Cu-PGE deposits in a convergent margin setting; the Polaris Alaskan-type intrusion
James is presenting on new geological investigations of the Early Jurassic Polaris ultramafic-mafic Alaskan-type intrusion, north-central British Columbia. The study includes detailed field mapping and petrochronology to develop an emplacement framework for the Polaris intrusion and associated Ni-Cu-PGE mineralization.
